Repentance

My spiritual father gave me good counsel some years ago.
I was close to despair about sin in my life.

He said this to me:

Both Peter and Judas betrayed the Lord, on the same day. In fact, Peter, who said he would die for Jesus, betrayed Him three times.

What is the difference between the two?

Peter repented. Judas did not.
