Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death;
and upon those in the tombs,
bestowing Life.
Eggs dyed red are given to the faithful during the Paschal feast. Tradition holds that St Mary Magdalene gave the first red egg.
Mary told Tiberius and his household about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. She held up a white egg to illustrate the concept of new life. Tiberius replied something to the effect of: Jesus rose from the dead as much as that egg is red. The egg immediately turned blood red. Many in Caesar's household were persuaded.
