Media Matters

...Media Matters intends to spend nearly $20 million in 2012 to influence news coverage.

Donors have every reason to expect success, as the group’s effect on many news organizations has already been profound. “We were pretty much writing their prime time,” a former Media Matters employee said of the cable channel MSNBC. “But then virtually all the mainstream media was using our stuff.”

$1 - $1.5 M cups

Photo of  the rare Chinese cup collection I mentioned here.

The show will air on Antiques Roadshow some time in 2012. Still, I would've rather seen this than Barry one more time.

Clark becomes Superman

I watched "Smallville" at the beginning of the 10-year run, but stopped watching once Lana (Kristin Kreuk) went nuts and fell for Luthor. What was that all about.

Tom Welling is a terrific (super?) Clark Kent/Superman. I didn't know that the series ended until I ran across the YouTube postings. Embedding has been disabled, sadly. But go here to see Clark become Superman.

Fun stuff.

Hope the new Superman movie is better than the last piece of dreck ("Truth, Justice...and all that stuff.")

Not again...UPDATED

Gee Whiz, the President is going on television tonight. Again.

Hasn't he ever heard of 'over exposure'?

Makes me glad I got rid of my TV last year.

Did'ja hear about the guy on Antiques Roadshow that had a small collection of ancient Chinese vessels, which are worth between $1M and $1.5M? Yep, that episode of AR is on at the same time as El Presidente tonight. Lots of unhappy AR fans.  Hmmmm...maybe it'll wake up the PBS crowd enough to not vote for the empty suit next time.

UPDATE: from Twitter feeds I hear that The Big O blamed President Bush for all our financial woes right out of the gate. The man has no shame. No class. No...nuthin'. Hey, Barry, YOU DID THIS. Own up to it like a man.

Abarenbo Shogun

In the late 90's I had a second-hand hotel TV with an aerial; I could get maybe 5 channels where I lived. One of the channels was a second-tier PBS station in the region. Saturday nights they showed the series Abarenbo Shogun, a long-running show from Japan starring the charismatic and handsome actor Ken Matsudaira. That version of the series had English subtitles. Watching that series was my weekly popcorn appointment...enjoy this opening credits sequence. (I do, look at that smile!)
